چکیده

We consider the applicability of the isentropic, adiabatic gas dynamical model of plume expansion for laser ablation in vacuum. We show that the model can be applied to ionized plumes and estimate the upper electron temperature limit on the applicability of the isentropic approximation. The model predictions are compared with Langmuir ion probe measurements and deposition profiles obtained for excimer laser ablation of silver. VC 2011 American Institute of Physics. Study of laser ablation using nano-second laser pulses

In this paper, the laser ablation process based on the irradiation of nanosecond pulsed lasers on a copper target surface in the presence of Helium gas is studied. The dynamical behaviors of the generated plasma in the helium gas and evaporated copper at the atmospheric pressure are examined using a laser pulse, laser wavelength of and intensity of 7×1010W/cm2. A one-dimensional thermal model ...

The effect of excitation wavelength on dynamics of laser-produced tin plasma

We investigated the effect of the excitation wavelength on the density evolution of laser-produced tin plasmas, both experimentally and numerically. For producing plasmas, Sn targets were excited with either 10.6 lm CO2 laser or 1.06 lm Nd:yttrium aluminum garnet laser; both are considered to be potential excitation lasers for extreme ultraviolet lithography laser-produced plasma light sources....

Analysis of Time-Resolved Laser Plasma Ablation using an Imaging Spectra Technique

Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) is extensively employed for the growth of thin films. The laser-material interaction involves complex processes of heating, melting, vaporization, ejection of atoms, ions and molecules, shock waves, plasma initiation, expansion and deposition onto a substrate. The understanding of the spatial and temporal distribution of a plasma parameters in a laser-produced plas...

Dynamics of laser produced silver plasma under film deposition conditions studied using optical emission spectroscopy

Laser produced plasma from silver is generated using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Optical emission spectroscopy is used to carry out time of flight (TOF) analysis of atomic particles. An anomalous double peak profile in the TOF distribution is observed at low pressure. A collection of slower species emerge at reduced pressure below 4 X lO-3 mbar and this species has a greater velocity spread. At ...

Influence of spot size on propagation dynamics of laser-produced tin plasma

The plume dynamics in the presence of an ambient gas is very intriguing physics. The expansion of a laser-produced plasma in the presence of an ambient gas leads to internal plume structures, plume splitting, sharpening, confinement, etc. We investigated propagation dynamics of an expanding tin plume for various spot sizes using a fast visible plume imaging and Faraday cup diagnostic tools. Our...
